To follow is a letter from Knack founder & CEO, Laura Jennings about our “Vote 2020” gift collection.

A Plan to Celebrate the 19th Amendment

We started planning for a collection celebrating the centennial anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment way back in 2019. And what a great collection it was, since it turns out you don’t need to be a constitutional geek to appreciate the appeal of a “Be More RBG” book or any of our items curated especially for the occasion of celebrating the female leaders upon whose shoulders female entrepreneurs like myself stand today.

Transformed Into a Celebration of Democracy

But it became clear early in 2020 that this would be a year for celebrating democracy in all its messy glory, not just what the vote meant for women. As a nation we’re in the midst of a passionate, multi-faceted argument about what it means to be black in our democracy. What it means to be an immigrant. Whether protesting is a pillar of our democracy and what form it should take. And what is truth and how to hold people accountable for it.

And Became an Inspirational Gift Collection

So our Women’s Empowerment collection has been gradually morphing into a Vote 2020 collection. It’s our way of encouraging everyone participating in this complicated national debate to keep at it, because history shows us that protest and dialog usher in necessary change.

Encouraging Everyone to Vote

So many of the trailblazing women we set out to celebrate with our Women’s Empowerment collection have expressed this message far better than I ever can, so let me leave you with just two last words of my own—please vote—and their words of encouragement to keep fighting the good fight.

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars and change the world.
—Harriet Tubman

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
—Margaret Mead

If one is lucky, a solitary fantasy can totally transform one million realities.

Here’s hoping that our disagreements knit us closer together,
